Introduction to ROSE Online Evolution
ROSE Online, or Rush On Seven Episodes Online (Korean:로즈 온라인) is an MMORPG which was created by Korean company Triggersoft and was published by Gravity Corp.. Triggersoft gave up the development of the game in 2007, so it is now developed (and hosted) by three different companies:
The development of the game is not anymore provided by one single development team, so naROSE, jROSE and idROSE are three different servers with different developments.
ROSE Evolution is the new version, or massive update of ROSE, with the GUI, skills set, materials and crafting system completely changed. Japan ROSE migrated to Evolution the first, followed by Korean ROSE, Philippine ROSE and the last North American ROSE on 24th August, 2006. ROSE Evolution is a union of both previous variants. The noticeable differences are:
The seven planets of the world of ROSE Online were created by the goddess Arua. However, Hebarn, the god of malice, took over the seventh planet and renamed it after himself.
To protect the other planets from Hebarn, Arua created the Visitors and sent them to Junon, the first planet.
The seven planets are: Junon, Luna, Eldeon, Oro, Skaaj, Karkia, Hebarn (the last 4 planets are still in development).
God and Goddess were
believed to be perfect beings of flawless beauty and virtue. But in reality, the
gods suffered from the same inadequacies and emotions as humans. Like mortals
they laugh and cry, grow angry and learn to forgive, fall in love and become
jealous. It was the through the love and imagination of
the goddess Arua that the seven planets were created, but it was through the jealousy and anger of the god Hebarn that the light of the seven planets were threatened to be consumed in darkness. Arua's lover, the god Junon, became aware of Hebarn's malicious intent and rushed to aid her in defense of
the seven planets. As the patron god of adventurers, Junon marshaled the rise of heroes in times of crisis. He came to enlist the aid of the human inhabitants of the seven planets in this war.
Heroes are recognized as
people who have accomplished great achievements. They are champions of strength
and moral character.
In ROSE, heroes follow Junon, the patron god of adventurers. They deliver his message in their adventures around the 7 planets. Factions keep a historical record of their heroes within their ranks, as well as mementos of their many adventures. Users are able to check these histories once they join a faction.
Gameplay is a free roaming typical level-up based MMORPG. You fight monsters, level up, obtain new skills and equipment to better yourself for upcoming battles. You can travel to different planets and explore new environments as well as battle other players and declare wars against other clans [guilds]. The game features its own in-game economy which is directly controlled by players. Supply and demand can change each day so it is up to you to seize the opportunity. You can obtain one of 4 branches of jobs at level 10, and 2nd Advanced jobs at level 100. The max level currently is 210. At level 210 you do not get experience but you are able to refine [upgrade] your weapons and armor to increase your power for Player vs Player.
In addition to leveling through the method of acquiring experience points leading to a level after the defeat of a monster, a character may also aid their leveling experience with the use of Quests. Quests are initiated after speaking to a NPC. Some quests are given a time limit so the character must complete the quest to be eligible for a reward. A reward may be constituted of material items and is usually accompanied with an experience point reward. Rewards from quests are affected by the amount of charm a character has.
There are three types of items, to which the Inventory is divided: Equipment, items characters may wear on their bodies; Consumable which consists of consumable items that may recover HP, MP or Stamina, or perform an effect (i.e. dance, learn a skill, shoot fireworks, socket items), and Etc which covers general miscellany, such as materials for crafting, gems, and ammunition for weapons that need them.
Each time a character levels, He will get some stats point which can be distributed among six stats. Each stat influences different things. The six stats are: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Concentration, Charm, and Sensibility. Strength, Dexterity, and Concentration mainly influence melee characters, while Intelligence and Sensibility influence magic type characters. Charm is beneficial equally to all classes. There is no restriction on which stat players can add to their characters. Along with in-game descriptions of the individual effects of each stat, there are also hidden elements of what each can do. These elements are:
Strength (STR): The ability to hold better shields, more attack power with melee weapons, stronger defense, higher max HP, and the ability to hold more weight.
Dexterity (DEX): A better dodge rate, and more attack power with dual weapons, katars, and bows.
Concentration (CON): Better attack accuracy, more attack power with guns and launchers, a higher MP and HP recovery rate, and more success when crafting gems.
Sensibility (SEN): Better critical hit rate, more attack power with ranged weapons, and a better chance, when crafting an item, for the item to have better stats and durability.
Intelligence (INT): Better max MP, and more attack power with staffs and wands.
Charm (CHA): More rewards when doing quests.
